This Privacy Policy explains what data Globistro ("we", "us", "our") collects, why, and how it is handled. It applies to globistro.com and the installable app version of the site.
Email address — if you subscribe to the newsletter, unlock paid access, or submit a recipe/review with contact details. Used to send the weekly newsletter, confirm your subscription, restore paid access across devices, and respond to submissions.
Payment information — handled entirely by our payment processor, Flutterwave. We never receive or store your card number; we only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, the amount, currency, and a transaction reference.
Push notification subscription — if you opt in to browser notifications, we store the subscription endpoint your browser/device gives us (not your identity) so we can send you notifications. You can revoke this at any time by disabling notifications in your browser.
Rating/review content and photos — if you submit one, including a hashed (not raw) version of your IP address, used only to apply rate limits and detect abuse.
Basic technical data — standard web server logs (IP address, user agent, pages visited) and, if configured, Google Analytics event data (e.g. page views, checkout starts, purchases) for measuring how the site is used and whether ad campaigns are working.
Locally on your device only — favorites (My Cookbook), cook log and streaks (My Passport), and your currency/language preference are stored in your browser's local storage and cookies. We do not receive or store this on our servers.
We use a small number of first-party cookies: one that keeps you signed in to paid access, one that remembers your chosen currency, one that remembers your chosen recipe language, and (only for site administrators) one that maintains an admin session. None of these are third-party advertising cookies.
Supabase — hosts our database (recipes, ratings, newsletter subscriber list, push subscriptions).
Flutterwave — processes payments; handles your card details directly, never passed through our servers.
Resend — sends newsletter and confirmation emails on our behalf.
Anthropic (Claude) — generates recipe text; recipe generation requests do not include your personal information.
Google Analytics — if enabled, processes anonymized usage analytics.
We do not sell your personal data.
We keep your email on file for as long as you remain a newsletter subscriber or paid subscriber. Unsubscribing removes you from future newsletter sends; your record is retained in an unsubscribed state so we don't accidentally re-email you. You can request full deletion — see Section 7.
The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email support@globistro.com — we'll respond as required by applicable law.
Our service providers operate in multiple countries, so your data may be processed outside the country you live in. Where required, we rely on those providers' own safeguards for international data transfers.
We may update this policy from time to time. The "effective date" below reflects the most recent revision.
